About Teatro Digital

 

Teatro Digital is an initiative of Bancolombia and the Teatro Mayor, a stage of the City Hall of Bogotá through the District Institute of the Arts (Idartes). A new show is broadcasted every Thursday and can be accessed for free.

Broadcasts are available every Thursday at 8:00 p.m. (Colombia time, GMT-5), through www.teatrodigital.org and Teatro Mayor’s Facebook page. We invite you all to connect from your mobile devices to enjoy some of the national and international artistic expressions of the highest level.

Origin

Teatro Digital was created out of the interest of the Teatro Mayor and Bancolombia to democratize culture. It encourages inclusion and access to the artistic offer of the theater to diverse demographic groups by using digital platforms and social media as tools for the transmission and dissemination of culture.

Who does it benefit?

Since its creation in 2015, the program has benefited people from more than 16 departments in Colombia. Additionaly, around 12 million users, between social media and the Teatro Digital website, have enjoyed the different transmissions.

How do we do it?

We offer a unique digital experience through a product of the highest quality. To do so, between 6 and 7 cameras are installed and distributed thoughout the Teatro Mayor and the stage. In addition, our broadcasts have an exclusive sound mix so that users do not miss any detail.

How often can I watch Teatro Digital?

New shows arrive the first Thursday of every month to Teatro Digital. Do not forget to save this dates in your calendar in order to enjoy a new broadcasting cycle that includes four transmissions and retransmissions that will be available for four weeks. What can I watch while waiting for the next broadcast of Teatro Digital?

Are you having problems to access the transmision?

How can I get my school to stream Teatro Digital?

Technical Recommendations

For a transmission in optimal technical conditions we invite you to take into account the following recommendations:

 

  1. Check with your operator for the speed of your data plan. For mobiles and tablets we recommend WiFi connection instead of 3G or 4G.

  2. Remember that the content is sometimes exclusively available for Colombia.

  3. Our player adapts to your network speed, so you can sometimes see the image pixelated.

  4. If the signal drops or is interrupted, refresh your page.

  5. Remember that the best option is to have one of the following options:

  • 2Mbps internet for normal quality

  • 5Mbps for HD Windows (XP, Vista, 7 and 8) / Mac OS (10.4.11 or higher)

  • Internet Explorer (8 or higher)

  • Firefox (3 or higher),

  • Safari or Google Chrome.

  1. The stream is temporarily unavailable for Smart TV and Windows Phone devices.

Terms and Conditions

In 2019, Teatro Digital, a ticket for everybody, will stream online and for free, events of the Julio Mario Santo Domingo Theater. The events will be on streaming in real-time on mobile devices with an internet connection and they are not to be re-played as these will have been finished.
