Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra V - Colombia

This concert features Concerto for Piano and Orchestra by Jesus Pinzón Urrea, Uirapuru by Heitor Villa-Lobos, The Swan of Tuonela by Jean Sibelius, and L` Oiseau de feu by Igor Stravinsky. Conductor: Ligia Amadio.  Guest Piano Soloist: Harold Martina.

The Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1967 and is attached to the District Secretary of Culture, Recreation and Sports.  The orchestra will perform ten concerts throughout the year at Teatro Mayor with outstanding guests.

In 2014, the Orchestra will aesthetically focus on the twentieth century.  This seeks to give the audience  a comprehensive picture of the worldview brought along by the twentieth century, starting from the Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun– a work that opens the century.  From there onwards, Colombian composers who marked the century are linked alongside, not on a chronological basis, but by aesthetic trends.
