In just a few years, the Fauré Quartet has become one of the leading quartets with piano. Dirk Mommertz (piano), Erika Geldsetzer (violin), Sascha Frömbling (viola) and Konstantin Heidrich (cello) seek new sound fields in chamber music and perform unconventional compositions.
They are recognized for their performances with the NDR Big Band, their collaborations with artists like Rufus Wainright or Sven Helbig, their appearances in clubs like Berghain, Cocoon Club or "Le Poisson Rouge" in New York, and also for their participation in children's television shows, generating interest among children in chamber music.
The release of their album Popsongs in 2009 generated great expectations among the press and the audience. The following year the ensemble received the Echo Classic Award for its album Classic Beyond Borders- its second award after their recording of Brahms' Piano Quintets.
