Opening of the 38th Porro Festival - Colombia

Created in 1977, this festival is held every year in the town of San Pelayo, Córdoba, grouping hundreds of traditional regional bands.

To open one of the most important folk festivals in the country, Juancho Torres and his Orchestra will perform at Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo with a cheerful repertoire full of porros, cumbias, paseos vallenatos and fandangos.

With a big band format, Juancho Torres and his Orchestra formed in October 1994 and currently has 25 musicians.  It is led by Juan Francisco Torres Correa, better known as "Juancho Torres"- an audiophile from Sincelejo, with music studies at the School of Music of the Hampstead Garden Institute in London.

The group aims to rescue, foster and spread the popular music of the coast, leading to the creation of new musical compositions by young artists in rhythms of porro, fandango, cumbia and merecumbé.
