For the fourth consecutive year, the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo will host the opening of the Vallenato Legend Festival, held every year in Valledupar city, and that in 2014 will pay tribute to the López dynasty.
This time the performance is divided in two acts. In the first one, vallenato kings Miguel López, Álvaro López, and Navín López- members of the López dynasty -along with Wilber Mendoza- the current Professional King and son of "Colacho" Mendoza -will show the audience how to compete at the Vallenato Legend Festival.
Along with their companions, these accordion masters will perform the four rhythms of Vallenato music (in Spanish called aires). Maestro Pablo López, one of the greatest caja drum performers of all time and a member of the López dynasty, will join them.
In the second act, the vallenato kings 2013 will demonstrate their versatility in the rhythms of paseo, merengue, son, and puya. The kings are Miguel Angel Velilla (child king), Rodrigo José Romero Chamorro (young king), Delay Magdaniel Gómez (amateur king), and Wilber Nicolás Mendoza (professional king)- son of famous "Colacho" Mendoza.
