Wilma Rueda, Soprano [Colombia]

Soprano Wilma Rueda performs a recital at Teatro Estudio accompanied by Polish guitarist Beata Bedwoska.

After finishing her studies at the National University of Bogota, Wilma Rueda, Colombian soprano, left for Freiburg, Germany, for a postgraduate degree in that city.  In European territory, she started a thriving career and received important awards like the First Prize at the Opera de Mulhouse (France), granted by the European Economic Community in recognition of her performances of opera and classical song.

She has given recitals in various cities in Germany and has performed with the Orso Orchestra of Freiburg, the Radio Orchestra of Baden-Baden, and Cologne Rhein Sieg Kammersolisten.  In Spain, she participated in the Gran Canaria opera season, playing the role of Pousette in Massenet's opera Manon. She also participated at the concerts that were organized as a tribute to the great Spanish Maestro Joaquin Rodrigo with the Madrid Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Odon Alonso.

Rueda has toured in countries like Germany, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Herzegovina, United States, Colombia, Panama, Honduras, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, San Salvador, Japan and India.
