Ricardo Gallo Quartet – Colombia

Conformed by Juan David Castaño (percussion), Jorge Sepúlveda (drums), Juan Manuel Toro (bass) and Ricardo Gallo (piano), this jazz quartet premiered at Teatro Estudio Julio Mario Santo Domingo a suite of pieces written by Gallo.

Ricardo Gallo Quartet has developed a varied repertoire with four original music recording projects: Los Cerros Testigos (2005), Urdimbres y Marañas (2007), Resistencias (2010), and Tribu del Asfalto (2013), all included in the catalog of the Distritofónica Collective.

Their music draws on various traditions of Colombian folklore, sounds of other Latin American countries and Africa, jazz from different periods, African American creative music, Western contemporary  music, and free improvisation.

It has participated in national and international festivals such as Jazz in the Park Festival in Bogota,  Novara Jazz Festival in Italy, International Jazz Festival of Buenos Aires, International Jazz Festival in Lima, and the Latin American Festival of the Arts in Puerto Rico.  Additionally, it has performed on stages in Switzerland, Barcelona, Rome, Santiago de Chile, and New York.
