Gonzalo Montes, baritone – Colombia

Colombian baritone Gonzalo Montes, who for many years was based in Spain, stars in this concert of musicalized poetry based on the creations of Spanish and Latin American writers.

With 21 years of singing experience, Montes developed an interesting lyrical career in Spain and Europe, participating in operas such as Rigoletto, La Traviata, The Messiah, and Carmen, in the most important Spanish and other European countries, including the Vatican.   Additionally, he was member of the Madrid Symphony Orchestra's choir.

While he was based in Europe, he also made several performances in Colombia such as Carmina Burana with the Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Dimitri Manolov in 1993.  He was also invited by the Bogota Philharmonic Orchestra to sing in several cities during the same year the Mass in F by Beethoven.  In 1990 he won the Mono Núñez Festival in its 16th edition.
