Frequently asked questions

Does the Theatre have any code of etiquette?

The Theatre has created a code for its venuess with a series of key aspects to take into account during your visit.

The assistants must be respectful of the people around them. Any person who interferes with the enjoyment of others during the show may be excluded from the venue.

Additionally, it is necessary to take into account the following points:

During our events, we ask the attendants to stay in their seats. However, given the circumstances, the attendants may stand up in front of their seats for some concerts, and such behaviour may be considered normal if most of the audience does the same. It is not permitted to stand on the seats or any other structures of the building not meant for such purpose.

Do not block the view of the other attendees.

Do not interfere with the normal execution of the show and do not bother the performers.

Avoid the use of offensive language, obscene gestures, pushing, throwing objects, or any other actions harmful to the other attendees' experience.

Follow the instructions and indications of the theatre's staff.

Do not obstruct the hallways.

Occupy your seat. If you are late for the event and you are ushered to a different seat, please locate your assigned seat after the interlude.

If you consume alcoholic beverages, do so responsibly. Entry to the venues under the influence of alcohol is not permitted.

If you see any inappropriate or offensive behaviour, please inform our ushers, the venue conductor, or our security staff.

In the case of an emergency, the attendees must comply with the recommendations of our staff and brigadiers.

The theatre's staff is qualified to intervene when considered necessary and following their judgement to ensure compliance with the code of etiquette in the interest of an optimal realization of the function and the full enjoyment of our users.

The entrance to the venue once the show has begun depends on the instructions given by the artist. Generally, the directors of each event communicate to the theatre when it is possible to do so, or if it is not possible given the specific characteristics of the event.

Are there places for people in wheelchairs?

Yes, the Teatro Mayor's venue has special locations on all levels. On the parterre, places L101 or L130; on the First Balcony (second floor), the mobile chairs No. 4 on each side (left and right); and on the Second Balcony (third floor), the mobile chairs No. 4 on each side (left and right). The Cultural Centre has an access ramp on its pedestrian entrance on the Calle 170. Our parking entrance also has a ramp leading to the lifts used to reach the First and Second Balconies.

Regarding the Teatro Estudio, this venue manages different formats following the conditions of the spectacle. It is necessary to inquire about the show's format beforehand to see if it allows for the placement of wheelchairs.

Is there any dress code?

Our venues don't have any code regarding dressing. What's important is that people feel comfortable and enjoy the show.

What is the minimum age to enter our venues?

The theatre has different criteria to determine the recommended or restricted ages to enter different shows, which aim to guarantee an optimal performance and the enjoyment of the attendees.

We take into account the following points to determine recommended or restricted ages:

The silence and focus requirements an artist or ensemble may need.

The theme of the performance; that is to say, if it contains elements that may be harmful or disturbing for minors.

The performance's length.

The volume and amplification of the show.

Based on these parameters, we created the following age ratings:

For performances of the Symphony Bogota, Great Soloists, International Dance, and International Theatre seasons, the minimum age is 10 years old, as these are performances where the artists need silence and focus.

For the Jazz, World Music, and Colombia is Music seasons, the minimum age is 7 years old, as these are popular music performances in which the volume and amplification may be significant.

In the case of performances aimed at children and families, which make part of the Bogota as a Family season, the minimum age of entry is 3 years old.

The theatre may allow the entrance of children younger than the recommended age if their parents or responsible adults that accompany them consider that the child will behave within the venue under the condition that, if the minor is noticeably uncomfortable, they must leave the venue accompanied by at least one adult.

If the performance or show announces that the function is for audiences over the age of 12 or 15, the entrance of children under these ages to the venue won't be permitted. That is to say, the age rating will be restrictive.
