Marta Gómez – Colombia

This singer/composer has developed a successful international career, excelling in the genre of world music.  The Los Angeles Times recently described her as "an exceptional talent with a sublime voice".

The Putumayo World Music label included her in the Latin American Female Singers Collection, alongside renown artists like Susana Baca, Toto la Momposina, and Tania Libertad.  In 2005 she was nominated for the Billboard Awards for Latin music in the Latin Jazz category.

Marta has won numerous competitions in the field of composition, the most prestigious being the SIBL Project from the United States, in which her song Paula Ausente (Missing Paula), dedicated to Chilean writer Isabel Allende, was chosen as best song inspired by a Latin American writer.  This song is part of the soundtrack of the series Capadocia, produced by HBO Latin America.

With her production Entre Cada Palabra (Between Each Word), Marta won the title for Best National World Music Act of 2006 by the Boston Phoenix.  Her fifth album, Musiquita, was placed once again at the top ten best world music genre albums in the European charts for several consecutive weeks.
